Live status from the official eCourts portal
For the current status of a case, each entry has a one-click button that copies the CNR number and opens the Government of India’s official eCourts portal, where you enter the CNR (and the portal’s captcha) to see the authoritative, up-to-date record. We deliberately do not scrape or re-host court data — you always get live status from the official source, which keeps the tool accurate and on the right side of eCourts’ terms and privacy norms.
What is a CNR number?
The CNR (Case Number Record) is a unique 16-character identity given to every case filed in the district and subordinate courts (and many High Courts) on the eCourts system. It stays the same throughout the life of the case, across transfers and appeals within the same system, which makes it the most reliable key for looking a matter up. Store the CNR against each case here and the official-portal lookup is one tap away.

- Does the Case Tracker fetch case status automatically?
- No — and that is deliberate. It stores your own case list and takes you, in one click, to the official eCourts portal for live status. It does not scrape or re-host court data, which keeps it accurate, legal and privacy-respecting.
- Is my case data private?
- Yes. Your cases are stored against your own account and are visible only to you. Free accounts can track a few cases; Standard and Premium track unlimited cases.
- Where do I find the CNR number?
- The CNR is printed on the case status page and filing receipts on eCourts, and your counsel or the court’s filing counter can provide it. It is a 16-character code unique to each case.
